What makes a MINI… MINI?
In 1959, it meant being on the cutting edge of front wheel drive and packaging technology. Driving a MINI meant driving the most advanced small car on the road. Fast forward to now, though, and the brand is little more than in-your-face retro bodies on crushingly conventional BMW platforms. There is no aspect in which a MINI product is leading the way.
Y75 brings the brand back on course through an innovative hydrogen powertrain and a world-first material for the body: the sustainable, ultra-strong and ultra-light Galvorn. Just the ticket to turn hydrogen power from niche novelty to everyday convenience.
And the name? It stands for ‘Year 75’ – 2034 marks three quarters of a century since the release of one of the most important cars of all time: the first MINI.
It’s time for another.
Below is the video showreel I made for the exhibition.

Lights inspired by tape used on classic MINI touring cars.
Wheel trims based on the hydrogen atom itself.
Glass tailgate echoes the 1997 MINI 'Spiritual Too' concept.
Exposed Galvorn front end showcases Y75's innovation.
